Sku: 8904

Find Relief Using the Pelvic Girdle Musculoskeletal Method℠

This book guides readers through a simple step-by-step program that is focused on pain in the pelvis using The Pelvic Girdle Musculoskeletal MethodSM (PGM MethodSM). This holistic method includes specific, progressive exercises, which are augmented by video links and QR codes.

Topics that are covered include the anatomical and physiological changes during pregnancy and postpartum, common problems during pregnancy and postpartum, stretches and strengthening exercises to support The PGM Method, guidelines and lifestyle changes that can help, and continuing care in the postpartum period. Beautiful color photos are used throughout to ensure exercises are performed correctly and to support educational materials.

Developed by Doctor of Physical Therapy Deborah Riczo, the PGM Method is the basis of continuing education courses she has taught to physical therapists since 2011. Deborah wrote this book in order to reach more women who may not have access to physical therapy or as a companion to other healthcare provider treatment.

Written by Deborah B. Riczo, PT, DPT, MEd. Softcover. 106 pages. Photo-illustrated.

Absolutely worth purchasing to help your back pain in pregnancy

When I purchased this book I was in so so much pain: I was in my third trimester and had terrible SI pain, which made everything (walking sitting, standing, sleeping) painful. I also reached out to the author, Deborah for a Discovery Call - which she scheduled with me right away (for FREE!) and listened to my situation, symptoms, and gave me some great suggestions to get started. It took a couple of weeks and then I saw a huge difference in how much less pain I was experiencing. Now (about 4 weeks later) I still do the exercises consistently and I'm back to my regular working outs, being more active, and sleeping much better. If you follow the plan it's really valuable knowledge to have if you're experiencing pain in pregnancy.

Informative!

This is a very comprehensive and informative book going over common problems during pregnancy and covers a wide range of diagnoses, including urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, diastasis rectus abdominis, and low back pain. The book also provides a step by step program to get you started, specifically to start connecting with your pelvic floor and abdominals, for example. The book is very concise and clear. It's very ease to understand in how it is written as well. If you're pregnant or postpartum and looking for a way to reconnect with your body, this is the book you want!

This helped ease my postpartum back pain

I purchased this book around 5 months postpartum. I was having postpartum back pain. The exercises in Dr. Riczo's book have helped me tremendously. In just a couple of weeks of the exercises, my back pain has decreased and I feel my core strengthening. I feel very thankful for Dr. Riczo and her expertise with postpartum back pain. I am on my way to a stronger and healthier body because of this book. Thank you Dr. Riczo!!!

For patients and therapists alike.

This is a comprehensive resource book for women with pelvic girdle pain as well as for professionals who work with them. I am a physical therapist and have been using these concepts with my friends and family. This is not a specialty area of mine but after experiencing one of Dr. Riczo's courses and using her books, I have been able to help people help themselves. I recently loaned the book to my daughter in law who had been experiencing pain for 2 months. It was worsening to the point where she could no longer run or perform her fitness program. I read through the instructions for patients and supervised her first session of exercises. She continued on her own and was able to run within 3 weeks. This is a common response to the approach. The information is based on anatomy, current evidence informed medicine, as well as Dr. Riczo's many years of experience as a practicing physical therapist. It is well organized and the pictures and links to videos of exercises are clear and helpful.

Great book

I was first introduced to Dr. Riczo’s work at a course she presented to physical therapists in 2012. Subsequently I have had very good results with this approach in my own physical therapy practice. I am especially happy to see the evaluation and exercises presented in such a clear manner so that the pregnant or postpartum woman could successfully treat her own pain.
