Sku: 8144
Sku: 8144PDF

An evidence-based guide that helps chronic pain sufferers discover the key to creating a rich, meaningful life.

Written by physical therapist Joe Tatta, this workbook and guide is for people experiencing chronic pain and the professionals who treat them. Using up-to-date research and contemporary pain education, Dr. Tatta helps readers understand the causes of pain. He then introduces them to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy—a time-tested, science-backed approach that has helped thousands of people experiencing chronic pain, as well as those suffering from stress, depression, anxiety, trauma and addiction.

Using metaphors, colorful imagery and more than 40 mindfulness activities, Radical Relief helps readers identify the blocks that may be keeping them stuck and offers tools for taking meaningful, purposeful action toward a more fulfilling life. This guide is a vital resource that provides a safe and effective alternative to common pain treatments.

“Some of our most common beliefs about pain are wrong—luring millions into endless struggle. This short, clear, easy-to-read volume shows that there is an entirely different pathway forward once a more scientifically sound perspective is adopted. In a step-by-step fashion, it gives you real tools you can use to obtain radical relief. Stop struggling: start living. Now. This book will show you how. Highly recommended.”

 - Steven C. Hayes, Originator of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and author of A Liberated Mind.

Great book for understanding and addressing pain!

The use of cognitive techniques for pain relief is the new must-have for anyone that deals with people in pain, or anyone that experiences pain. Dr. Tatta’s “Radical Relief” gives you the tools and the blueprints to apply proven cognitive practices. The short chapters make it perfect for trying out the activities and internalizing the concepts. I have been using the techniques contained in this book with my patients and on myself for a year now, and the difference it makes is empowering. As a lifelong athlete (I am now 51 years old), I had stopped training and competing due to chronic hip and back pain. After 6 years of not being able to compete, I was able to participate in a race for the first time this past fall. I felt great during and after the race! I have seen my patients, with whom I had tried everything, go from months of spending the day curled up in bed with pain, to exercising several times a week, returning to work, smiling, and socializing again. If pain, and finding pain relief, has become the main focus of your life. If everything else in your life has taken a back seat to your pain, this book will help you get on the road toward the life you want to live, and the human being that you want to be.
