Self-Care for Pelvic Pain: A Sensory Integration Toolkit

Sku: 8628PKG
Sku: 8628

This informative guide provides an understanding of pelvic pain along with self-treatment techniques.

Self-Care for Pelvic Pain is an excellent resource for people experiencing pelvic pain and the practitioners who treat them. Written by pelvic health specialist Sandra Hilton, PT, DPT, MS, the book was written for people experiencing groin pain, genital pain, or pain while sitting, riding a bike, or having sex.

This informative guide explains the different types of pain, as well as common pelvic conditions. It then introduces sensory integration, which is a way to gently retrain your system, including the painful areas, the nervous system, and your brain. Purchase the book individually, or with the Sensory Integration Toolkit (SIT KIT), which includes seven balls of varying sizes and densities that can be used to perform the sensory integration techniques introduced in the book.

This clear, simple guide includes step-by-step sensory integration exercises and guidelines for how to perform them, as well as guidance on how to choose the right sensory integration tool for each technique. For people experiencing pelvic pain, this book offers a path toward feeling better by using pleasurable sensation and fun movement to improve the body’s ability to tolerate normal pressures.

Softcover; 64 pages. Illustrated.

Taking the taboo out of talking about pelvic pain

Dr. Sandy Hilton has truly achieved her goal with this book- to take a "taboo" topic (pelvic pain) and bring it out into the open to de-mystify it. The medical system often complicates the experience of persistent pain. Sandy has uncomplicated it. Looking at pelvic pain from both an emotional and a sensory experience is the key to getting "unstuck". Sandy focuses on finding pleasure in touch again to help patients de-threaten the danger messages that are dominating their nervous system. This book is an EXCELLENT resource for both patients and clinicians and is an important tool in your healing toolkit.

This book and kit of balls is great for anyone with pain. The book explains what causes pain and what to do about it. The balls are all different sizes, some soft and some firm so there is one that works for whatever exercise you do from the book. Great combination!
